Rose and Dakota show up at Jo’s legal firm to ask her to arrange an adoption. Dakota is age 24 and white, and Rose is 18, disabled and black. They tell her that a very wealthy African American woman showed up at the facility where Rose lives and, and Dakota works, and offered to adopt Rose. At first Rose was so excited, but after a weekend with her new “mom” to be, Rose returned upset, and has begged Dakota to adopt her instead. Meanwhile, Jo and her partner, Cecilia have been fighting over the right time to have a baby. Cecilia physically can’t, and Jo promised, but is getting old, and the timing is not right as she’s just opened her own firm.
